Thora Dawn Sanders was murdered on April 6, 2009 on Raleigh Street, Laurinburg, NC. At approximately 9:25pm, officers responded to the 700 block of Raleigh Street reference to shots fired. Upon arrival located Sanders lying on the side of the road unresponsive. EMS transported Sanders to Scotland Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased from gunshot wound.
